Attention Mt. Royal Neighbors,

The Jewish Chabad Center has sent a proposal to rezone one of our Mt. Royal properties from a residential home into a public building. Notice was received through the Commerce Township Planning Committee. The proposed plan is for the home at the corner of Halberd and Sleeth and includes plans to construct and pave a public parking lot in the backyard of an existing property. In addition, this parking lot is meant to empty onto Halberd Street. We must all pull together and let Commerce Township know that it is not OK to encroach into our neighborhood and rezone residential properties. This will lead to property value decreases as well as increased risk due to traffic exiting onto streets where our children play. What can you do?

1. Contact Commerce Township

Send an email to our township representatives. Let them know that you strongly urge them to not approve the special land use for 830 Sleeth Road. Not to approve changing our homes into public places for parking lots and allowing them to empty onto our residential street. They will accept emails up to the close of business at 5:00 on August 1st.This is voting season and the board of trustees can be contacted, to let them know how we feel as well. 2. Go to the Township Hearing

We suggest that every house send at least one representative to the public meeting on Monday August 1st @ 7PM. The meeting is located in the board room of the Commerce Township Hall located at 2009 Township Drive. Voice your opinion and let them know that this is not OK.
